2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness

2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness

2022 Outback Wilderness at Subaru of Midland Odessa

Subaru Rises to the occasion when the world heads outdoors with the all-new 2022 Outback Wilderness Edition. The Wilderness brings out the long-standing reputation of durable, comfortable, and rugged vehicles in an all-new special edition of the nearly twenty-year-old model line. The Wilderness edition has some major restyling that make an appearance, features designed to help you intuitively travel on the roughest roads. Even with new and fun details that make for an amazing road trip, on the inside, it’s still the same great Outback that the world has come to know and love.

What’s new with the Wilderness Edition?

We’ve seen L.L. Bean and Eddie Bauer editions of the Subaru, along with the ever-popular Onyx Editions, but the Wilderness is an all-new breath of life within the Subaru Family that sets it apart from any version yet seen.

The Subaru Wilderness edition offers an increase in ground clearance from the standard models, bringing a new height from 8.0 inches to a serious 9.5 inches. That may seem small, but you and your Subaru will thank you when crawling over rocks or navigating through potholes. The vehicle also features all-terrain Yokohama tires, perfect for those epic adventures on the less-than-paved roadways. The Wilderness provides a second series of fog lights embedded on the front end’s massively expanded paneling that now includes front and back clearance bumpers. The roof rails have been largely upgraded and expanded, and now can house a rooftop tent, so you never have to leave the comfort of your brand-new Wilderness edition.

Many upgrades occur under the hood and within the vehicle’s available technology. The turbocharged Subaru BOXER engine supplies 260 horsepower to the vehicle which is a huge bump from the standard 2022 Outback. The vehicle’s drivetrain also has a retuned gearing perfectly designed for slow climbing and is rated for up to a 40% grade. Along with an improved engine, the Subaru Wilderness features a new generation of X-Mode Driving which has options for snow, sand, and mud that ensures your vehicle can get out of even the stickiest situations.

A Matte black panel on the hood is just the beginning of the upgraded safety systems, as the entire EyeSight suite has been redesigned to account for the increased angles presented with the body of the Wilderness Edition.  The system also takes into account the vehicle’s increased ground clearance as well as its numerous off-road improvements.

Same Great Subaru

While there were many fun editions to the Subaru Wilderness, it doesn’t take away from any of the features that we have becoming so acquainted with when talking about the latest generation of Subarus. Features such as Symmetrical All-Wheel drive, great towing capability, and all-around durability haven’t gone anywhere. Subaru EyeSight also continues to deliver the same great assistive features including blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist, adaptive cruise control and so much more.

The vehicle also continues to feature an 11.6-inch touchscreen outfitted with Subaru Starlink, where you can access emergency safety features as well as use your smartphone to find a world of entertainment and navigation.
